With the release of their third album, Death of a Decade, Missouri based indie band, HA HA Tonka are a little bit C86, a little bit country.
Their sound is a blend of jangly Smiths-esque guitar and Polyphonic Spree style harmony with a rootsy edge. All things considered, they sound to me like a Country version of the Flaming lips or Galaxy 500.
It’s nothing to get excited about, but Death of a Decade is a good solid record.
HA HA Tonka incorporate traditional lyrics and arrangements with a solid pop sentiment.
