The Far West: The Far West have an authentically Americana sound that’s been described as something like Waylon’s band jamming with Wilco. Their songs are highly personal, introspective and original and betray a deep love of American music. In keeping with the W theme one also hears a little Willie, Whiskeytown and Woody, as in Guthrie, in their music. Their songs are highly personal, introspective and original and betray a deep love of American music that runs from ‘Nashville Skyline’ to the Opry of the 1950’s, from the red dirt of South Texas to the streets of Bakersfield. It’s music you can dance to, start a brawl with or cry in your beer over, however the spirit moves you.
Brett Detar: Bird In The Tangle is an authentic roots record that takes its listeners on a sweeping journey across coasts and five cities into fleeting highs and empty houses, bleak street lights and closed eyes, the darkest depths of wanderlust and loneliness. After touring the world full-time, releasing five studio albums on both indie and major labels in a successful indie rock band with his childhood friends for ten years, he found himself with splintered musical attachments, changed life goals, and an uncertain musical future.
Mark Lennon & The SouthernTier: The SouthernTier are a Los Angeles based Americana band playing a mixture of Country, Bluegrass and Roots Rock. The SouthernTier is fronted by North Carolina native Mark W. Lennon who released his full length debut album, Home of the Wheel in 2011. Compared to 2009’s much talked about EP, Down the Mountain, Home of the Wheel has a raw – stripped down sound, due in part to producer Marvin Etzioni (Lone Justice). The SouthernTier are currently working on new material for an upcoming release.
The Dustbowl Revival: The Dustbowl Revival is a Venice, CA-based folk orchestra playing a raucous brand of ethnic roots music. An ever-evolving collective of up to twelve musicians including washboard, trumpet, tuba, clarinet, trombone, banjo, mandolin, pedal steel, blues harp, kazoo and more, Dustbowl’s riotous dance-your-ass off sets bring you on a tour of traditional American music with a thoroughly modern twist. Think Dylan and The Band meets The Devil Makes Three meets Satchmo down in New Orleans. “Bluegrass-swing like the Blue Ridge miners from the 1920’s heading into town for dancing and drinking.” –MUSIC SPECTRUM
