Eight 30 Records is releasing Chris Fullerton’s new single “Come On In” as a free download today! The emotional song offers a direct rallying cry against President Trump’s controversial “zero tolerance” policy separating immigrant families from their children. “There are a lot of people trying to seek asylum right now who are getting separated from their families,” Fullerton says. “That’s fucked up. It’s important to remember that right now. This song is for them. This is a dark time for our country, and I think that everybody should say something. We’re starting here.”
Fullerton joins a widespread resistance happening now. “President Trump caved to enormous political pressure on Wednesday and signed an executive order meant to end the separation of families at the border by detaining parents and children together for an indefinite period,” reported The New York Times last week, “but ending the practice of separating families still faces legal and practical obstacles.” “Splitting apart families as punishment for seeking the hope of a better life is cruel,” Fullerton continues. “The indefinite detention of children is a human rights violation. These actions enforced by our government debase us all. We should be a welcoming, safe place.”
