TJ West: CALICO the band
By Kim Grant
CALICO the band is an L.A.-based all female Americana guitar-slinging trio. Representing today’s California Country, Manda Mosher, Kristen Proffit and Aubrey Richmond forge skillful and effective vocal arrangements employing alternating lead vocals and multi-part harmonies. Among them, they play banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and harmonica and represent GRETSCH Guitar’s roots instrument line.
Forming in 2012, the music is reminiscent of an earthier Dixie Chicks mixed with Crosby, Stills and Nash. Their extensive touring earned them National Touring Artist Of The Year from the Los Angeles Music Awards in 2013.
The band recently kicked off a 3-week West Coast tour with 2 nights the Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, CA where a couple of Foo Fighters (Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee) joined them onstage. This Sunday finds them back in their hometown and headlining The Grand Ole Echo in Los Angeles.
The Grand Ole Echo, Sunday, June 22nd 7:00-8:00pm 1822 Sunset LA, CA 90027
Free/All Ages/ Show begins at 3:00pm with Jonathan Tyler, Murietta, Bones Muroni, Marshall Vore & Friends
